Have a Merry and Bright Christmas

This card is for my beautiful sister!
I used Unity's Bright & Merry Winter Wishes
I colored the ornaments with Copics (and it's way better blended than it looks in the pics).
The sparkle is from the Sakura Gelly Roll Stardust pen
The gorgeous ribbon is from Stampin Up! Delicious!
The beautiful paper is from Recollections, available at Michaels!
I kind of love this card :)
Thank you for stopping by!
And I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas!

Christmas Ornaments!

It is a busy, busy time!
And I have been busy making ornaments!
These are paper mache. I picked them up at Michael's.
I Mod Podged the heck out of them.
The one on the left has red baker's twine along the seams, and a felt snowflake on top.
The one on the left has ink along the seams, and gathered lace around the middle.
The paper I used is Basic Grey.
The ornament above is covered with PTI paper. For a new nephew :)
These are made of some pressed board that I have had for a couple of years.
I Mod Podged the paper on them also. The paper I used is The Girls' Paperie, Tinsel & Twig.
They are all different, and covered on the back as well.
Thank you for popping in :)
Have a wonderful day!

Ok, Last Post About the Birdhouses!

I have blogged about these darling birdhouses twice already!
I loved them, but something was missing. Then it struck me, snow!
I applied Crystal Effects, then caked on the glitter!
 And I love it!

I am done with them! And this time I mean it!
Super cute I think!
Thanks for stopping by!
I will be back tomorrow with LOTS of ornaments that I have been working on!

Pedestal Birdhouses

I saw some pedestal birdhouses on Pinterest, and I knew I had to do these!
The ones I saw are Here
I bought the unfinished candlesticks, wood bases, and the birdhouse on the right at Michael's. The birdhouse on the left is from my stash of things to alter ;)
I attached it all together with Gorilla Glue. That is some Amazing Stuff!!!
The birdhouse on the left was spray painted with Krylon in Black first. After it dried I painted it with white.
The house on the right was not painted with black first. I was experimenting.
After a couple of coats of white, I sanded the edges and other parts to bang it up a little.
I used the Antique Effect from Martha Stewart with some brown paint, and painted the birdhouses, making sure to get into the crevices. I wiped it off before it dried, leaving it in the nooks and crannies.
This was my first time doing anything like this. I really liked it. After these birdhouses, and the little ones I did on yesterday's post, I know I'll be doing more.
I learned some things, like you only need to add very little paint to Martha Stewart's Antique Effect ;)
 Thanks for stopping by!
Have a super day!

Update on Birdhouses

I posted these on Sunday, but I knew I had to do something more.
I had these Stampin' Up felt flowers that coordinated with the paper pretty well.
These antique looking pearl brads were the perfect accent.

I love the brad on top of the birdhouse below.
Tomorrow I'll have a few more things I've been working on ;)
I've been having fun!
Have an awesome day!

Holiday Birdhouses

I have been busy busy busy working, but I'm making time to make some Christmas gifts.
One of my projects are these little holiday birdhouses. They're not done, and I'm not sure where I'm going with them from here. But I was anxious to share ;)
I hate to say it, but Martha Stewart kind of rocks!
These little birdhouses are from Michael's. They're a buck, and unfinished.
I painted them white, then Mod Podged the paper (Basic Grey) on them.
This is where the magic began!
You mix it with a small, and I mean very small, amount of paint. You brush it on, then wipe it off before it dries. It leaves your project looking old vintage ;)
My husband and kids say they look old, so I guess I did it right ;)

I'm not done with them, and I'm not sure what I'm going to add yet. You can bet it'll be cute though ;) I'll share the pics of the finished products as soon as I finish them.
I have other projects I've finished too, so I will be back this week with more!

Halloween Unity

I made it back into my craft room! Busy craziness lately! I started working at Michael's, and sometimes it kicks my butt! I have to get back in the swing of things ;) So here's my creation of the day!
I made a gate-fold card for a Unity World Card Making Day Challenge.
I combined two challenges. One was to make a Halloween card. The other was to dry emboss the base using colored core cardstock. I didn't want it on the outside, so it's inside.
I stamped the broom and witch hat on the front. I then stamped them on white c/s and colored them with Copics. I cut them out and attached them over the stamped images.
I wanted it to look like big doors, so I colored these clear rhinestones with a black Copics and attached them like door handles.
The swirls on the sides are rub-ons.
Below is the inside of the card. I love it! It's like a little surprise. I embossed it in my Cuttlebug, then sanded it lightly to bring out the detail. So creepy!
 Thank you for stopping in!
Have a fantastic day!

My Unity Place Halloween Card

I know it's a little early, but I won this Itty Bitty and I had to use it right away!
I used the sketch from My Unity Place's challenge.

The paper is from Making Memories Spellbound and The Girls Paperie Toil and Trouble. The swirls were punched out of some textured paper that was given to me as a gift. The punch is from EK Success.
The die cut was cut using a Nestability. I sponged it with Tim Holtz Distress Ink. The orange is from the ribbon. It was white seam binding that was sprayed with Pumpkin Pie Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist. While it was still wet I dabbed it on the die cut. I thought it left some interesting texture.
The stamp is part of the Itty Bitty set, Witching Hour.
I added some black rhinestones for a little pop :)
Thanks for stopping by!
Have a fantastic day!

Mojo Monday 205

I'm back! I have had a really bad case of missing Mojo! I mean bad! So I think it's only appropriate that I come back with a Mojo Monday card sketch ;)
I used Echo Park's Country Drive paper. So pretty!
The base is Crumb Cake from SU.
I even got out the little sewing machine and stitched around the bottom layer.
I love my buttons, and I layered a big ol' pink one with a little Prima flower. How fun :)
Another of my fav things on this card is the big honkin' rik-rak!
I cut the oval with my Nestabilities. While it was still in the die I sponged it with SU Pixie Pink. I stamped it with the sentiment from Unity, and mounted it with dimensionals.
Thanks for looking! Have a fantastic day!

Personal and a Little Sappy

I have to get a little sappy today. This is the time of year that kids go back to school, and some kids go away to school. I have one going back to school, and one who left the nest. Cam didn't leave to go to school, but to Canada to play junior hockey.
That's us together, at his graduation.
I miss him.
He is someone I really like.
He's not perfect, and he's a teenager, so there are those moments! But overall, I adore him.
I did very well, until he pulled away.
That's when I lost it a little.
We raise them to be independent, right? To grow up, and to leave.
Then when they do, we are proud. And we know that is where they belong, living their dreams.
But, it doesn't make it any easier for us moms, does it.
But this is the hardest part! This is what turns me into a puddle every time.

This is who he will miss the most, his nephew, my grandson Brayden.
This is what breaks my heart. They are VERY close. Brayden's dad is away, and Cam has stepped in as a very good male role model for Brayden. They adore each other. Brayden was trying to block the door so Cam couldn't leave, hours before he was leaving.
He's only 5 hours away, so we will be visiting as much as we can!
It's not the same as being here though.
But how many people get to live their dreams? You have to do it when you have the chance.
This is his time!
He has always set goals for himself, and his teams.
He wanted to win Silver Sticks (a prestigious international tournament), and his team did it.
When I asked him as a high school sophomore if he wanted a class ring, he said no, he wanted a State Championship ring when he's a senior. And the team did it!
He's always wanted to play junior hockey, and today he has his first official  practice as a junior hockey player.
I miss him tons, but I could not be any prouder!

This is Why I Haven't Been Posting

I have been painting! This has undergone many revisions! I have painted over, painted over, papered over, and painted over. I thought I like the first version, then I hated it. Then I re-did it and loved it, then hated it, then re-did it, and REALLY hated it! Then I painted over the whole thing, except for the bottom. The bottom (sand) has remained the same throughout. That is the only part that has remained!
Now I LOVE this! I want to get prints made to sell on my Etsy shop :)
I've learned a lot while working on this.
First of all, don't be afraid of the paint. Whatever you don't like, you can paint over, and over, and over again if you need to ;)
Second, there is no such thing as perfection! Just do it, and love it.
I also learned, enjoy the process! Sometimes just putting the brush to the canvas is the best therapy ;)

Thank you for looking in! I appreciate you taking the time to stop by. I also appreciate every single comment more than you know!
Have an awesome day!
