Valentines Cards for Vets

One of my dearest (and most talented) friends, Deb V, came up with a brilliant idea!
She asked us to help her make Christmas cards for the Veteran's Home in our town. There are 600 men and women in the facility. There are six of us in our group, The Stampin' Chix. Between us all we made it! We gave each and every one of the veterans a hand-stamped card :) And we got together to sign each and every one of them too. Yep, each one of us sign each card.
These veterans have given us as a country so much, and it's just a small thing, but we want to give them something heartfelt. So many organizations are giving to the soldiers who are currently serving, and we wanted to honor those who have served in the past.
We will be creating a blog to encourage others to do this in their towns. Our little endeavor is called
"Holidays for Real Heroes." by the Stampin' Chix.
We are going to continue this with other holidays. Yesterday we got together and worked on making and signing Valentines Day cards for the veterans.
Here are a couple of mine.
Of course I used Unity Stamps :) The heart image is retired :(
The sentiment is from the October, 2010 Kit of the Month.
The image is colored with Copis, and highlighted with Spicas.
The sentiment was also highlighted with Spicas.
The second card was fun, but time-consuming.
First I swiped my Tim Holtz Distress Stain in Picket Fence across the card.

I punched a lot of hearts with a Martha Stewart punch and glued the little @#^%*&@! suckers on.
Thanks for stopping by :)
Have an awesome day!!!

Where You Are

A little, but not too shabby.
I stamped the dot background with Versamark Ink. The dots were a little more pronounced than I had at first envisioned because the stamp was a little dirty pre-inked.  I'm not a fan of cleaning my stamps. It takes too long and I'm far too lazy ;) But I liked it and went with it.
I swiped some Tim Holtz Distress Stain in Picket Fence over some of the dots to stamp the birdhouse on. I love that stuff!  It's transparent, but if you put more layers it becomes more opaque.
All of the stamps I used are Unity. The birdhouse and sentiment are from the Itty Bitty, Where You Are.
The Grainy Background and Distressed Dots are also Unity.
I trimmed and tore a shipping tag for the sweet sentiment.
The birdhouse and tag were colored with Copics just a little bit.
Thanks for looking in!
I appreciate each and every one of you who take the time out of your day to visit me.
Have an amazing day!

Warm Winter Comforts

I am so excited about this card, and I think I'm getting excited about making cards and stamping again!
The holiday season was crazy to say the least. Working in retail will zap your joy every Christmas season if you let it, and I did : / .
But I got a little inspiration somewhere along the way and here is the result :)
I decided to make a shaped card because I wanted the image to be the focus. Love it this way!
I got out my Copics. It's been awhile. How I've missed them so! And I used no less than 15 markers!
These guys are from the Unity Kit of the Month from January, 2011
I think I'll name them Frank and Johnny ;)
How cute are these guys!
A little sparkle never hurt anyone!
I hope this card makes you smile, even a little bit ;)
Thanks for stopping by! I love company, and I really appreciate every comment you leave too!
Have an incredible day, and stay warm :)
