Friends With Flair Blog Hop

My take on the Hip Hop Sketch Challenge for this week. I used an Ippity set, Regal Greetings, for the "Thanks." The paper is Pink Paislee's 365 Degrees. This started as a clean and simple card, but I'm just not very good at clean and simple.

The greeting is stamped then punched out with an SU labels punch. I mounted it on another patterned paper and trimmed around it leaving a little all the way around. The flower is a little off white. I used my water brush to get a little color on it with SU More Mustard ink. It was then edged with Tim Holtz Peeled Paint Distress Ink. The leaf ribbon is from PTI. I picked up the gorgeous rhinestones from the dollar goodies at Michael's last week. The wrinkle ribbon is from Mish's Etsy Shop. The grosgrain that I pleated along the scallop edge is SU More Mustard.

I think that's about it. You can go back to the list of the rest of the Friends with Flair Here. make sure you visit everyone. There is some great talent out there!

Have an awesome day!

Look What Happens When You Can't Sleep

Awake at 2 AM, can't sleep. I tried. So this is what I did. Inspired by the inspiration card here. I used Donna Downey stamps by Unity. Love them! First I masked the middle to stamp the Worn Grid Background just around the edges. The I masked the outside to stamp the flower image. I sprayed the whole thing with Glimmer Mist. You can see a little glimmer in the close ups. It's hard to capture the effect with a camera, for me anyway. I love the way the ink bled! After it dried I used my Stamp a ma jig to stamp the image again over the now blurry flowers. I love the effect! I wish I could say I planned it all, but I just went with it. That happens more at 2 AM I think.

The ribbon was another brilliant 2 AM idea. I didn't have any ribbon to go with the colors, so I made my own. It is white ribbon, but I sprayed it with Glimmer Mist. After it dried it was too light blue, so I sponged it with SU Cool Caribbean ink. Perfect! I've never done that before and didn't know how it would turn out, especially with this ribbon. I didn't know if it would take the color, but it did.

The awesome button is Webster's Pages Vintage Buttons Sparklers. I put the little stone in the center.

I have to get a great frame for this now. Have a great day!

Improvement on Previous Card

I liked my last card, but there was something missing. Then as I was looking around my room I realized I had a whole little tin of rik rak of all colors that would be perfect for this card. So I took the image off and laid down the rik rak. What a difference! I popped the image up on dimensionals. Much better!

Lovin' this, coordinating stamps and paper. Decided to do some hand sewing with the bakers twine to use this needle. Too cute!

Cosmo & Unity

Love the Material Girl Cosmo Cricket paper AND stamps from Unity. I broke out the new sewing machine (which I bought probably a year ago and just used for the first time last night). Sewing machines scare me. I don't have much luck with them. The thread breaks, the thread bunches up under the fabric. After a few minor issues (the thread broke a few times, and the thread bunched up under the cardstock, Aaaaghh) I was so happy with the results. Not bad for a first try. I know just who is getting this ;)

Unity, of Course!

Using the inspiration from HERE for FWF30 I came up with a purple card. That's a color I don't use often. I used the color purple and the flowers as my inspiration.
The base is SU Elegant Eggplant. The image is stamped on GP White. I masked the stems to ink up the flowers. then I used the Elegant Eggplant marker and colored in the middle of the flowers on the stamp. I used a green marker for the stems. After stamping the flowers I used Prismacolor pencils and gamsol to fill in the leaves. I added a highlight on the leaves with a white pen. The DP is from Memory Box Sprout and Pink Paislee 365 Degrees. The white strip I made myself. I put a rhinestone (pretty old from my stash) in the middle of a button (also from my extensive button stash ;) to make a fancy little embellishment. Had to add some glitter to the flower centers too. Love the sparkle!
I enjoyed making this card. Hope you all like it too!

Unity Friends With Flair Blog Hop!

I used this weeks Unity Sketch Challenge. You can see it here. It was quite a challenge!

I used two Unity Backgrounds, Giving It All Meaning and Worn Grid. The greeting on the tag is from May's KOTM, A Little Happy. The Word BG is stamped on SU Confetti Cream and sponged with Tim Holtz Old Paper Distress Ink. The circle is mounted on a chipboard circle and sanded a bit around the edges. The red and cream flower is actually a doily design cut out of October Afternoon's Thrift Shop paper. The flower on top is made with Fabric Tape - e2Daily Mini Mums from Love My Tapes! So fun and so easy! The button is from my stash. Wrinkle ribbon from Michelle Wooderson's Etsy Store. The tag I made. I just wish I had made sure the whole greeting showed when I snapped the pics. Oh well.

You can go back to the Unity Blog or to the Unity Website. Have a great day and enjoy the other creations in the Friends with Flair Blog Hop Today!

New Graduation Cards!

I knew this verse in Donna Downey's "She Said" would be perfect for a friend's graduation. I stamped the head in Versamark for a soft background. If you click on the picture you can get a bigger picture to see details better. I went over the verse with a Stardust pen. It adds just enough sparkle, but doesn't cover up the image.
Thanks for stopping by, and remember you can subscribe up toward the top on the right!

October Afternoon Yumminess! And Some Buttons!

Yummy! I love this October Afternoon Thrift Shop and Fly a Kite paper! I got this layout and idea from Michelle Wooderson. She totally rocks her projects! For the larger embellishment I used 1 3/4" circles punched from packing paper from my Papertrey Ink order. I crumpled them up, flattened them back out, sponged them with Tim Holtz Old Paper Distress Ink. I stacked them together and put the punched circle on top. I stitched them all together with a button and black Bakers Twine from CKD Designs. Love that stuff. I have lots of colors now. I used a Stampin' Up! punch for the border. The background stamped on the Kraft cardstock in white is from Unity's Cosmo Cricket line. The "Happy for You" is from Papertrey Ink's Enjoy the Ride.
Hope you like it! I love it!
