The Best Is Yet To Be

I've been painting a little this week, so I haven't made cards :0. Imagine the horror!
So I had to get in there and fix that.
I used Cosmo Cricket's Circa 1934 and black cardstock. The sentiment is Unity, from the February, 2011 Kit of the Month.
This is for the Unity Friends with Flair. Stop by and see some great inspiration!
Thanks for stopping by. I appreciate you taking the time to pop in and see what I'm up to ;)
Have a great weekend!

Just a Little Canvas

Another attack of insomnia, and this was the result :) This midlife stuff is pretty bad for the body, but great for my creative juices. Wait until you see last night's creation!
This is a 6 x 6 canvas from Dick Blick. A nice size for a little middle of the night creativity.
I painted the background all kinds of bright summer colors, then painted over the colors with light blue and white. You can still see shades of the other colors underneath. It makes for some nice texture.
I stamped the bicycle from Unity with gray ink, then painted over it. I did the same with the flowers and the sun. The sentiment is stamped in Black Staz On.
The highlights are done using the Sharpie paint marker.
I don't have any particular plan for this little canvas. For now it just sits on my table and makes me happy ;)
 Thanks for stopping by :)
Have a fantastic day!

Bike and Flowers

This is a beautiful Melody Ross stamp by Unity! The sketch is the CPS Sketch #228.
This Week\
I inked the stamp up with Stampin' Up markers. It stamps such a great image! The inking of the stamp was a little off in some spots, but that's ok :)
I added some yellow flock to the flower centers. Love flock, and I don't know why I don't use it more.
Paper is Basic Grey.
I added a piece of cotton lace around the one end.
I stacked two buttons on the bow. I couldn't find the right shade of twine, or small button, so I colored them both with Copics.
Thanks for stopping by :)
Have a great week!

My Unity Place Challenge

Today I want to tell all Unity lovers about a great place to gather and learn and share!
My Unity Place is awesome! There are Unity Challenges and lots of pictures and videos! I think it's sometimes a forgotten resource, but go there now!
This card was made with the current card challenge, one designer paper, one ribbon, one button. I thought it would be plain, but it's so not! Since I had this dragonfly out from yesterday I thought I'd use it again. It's such a pretty image :)
I stamped the image with SU Basic Brown. I know it's not on any list to use with Copics, but it never runs for me. I colored with Copics, then colored over it with Copic Spicas.
the die cut is from a Nestability. While it was still in the frame I sponged it very lightly with Old Paper Distress Ink, then traced the inside of the die with a Spica. So pretty :)

Thanks for stopping by ;) I really appreciate it! Really I do!
Have a great day!

Unity Circles Challenge

My first thought for this card was the Unity Blog Challenge; Circles, Circles, Circles and Friday Friends With Flair
I knew I wanted a round card, and I knew I wanted black and white. The teal was a happy discovery when my three year old grandson was "helping" me pick colors :)
The dragonfly was chosen by him too! That may be due to him being terrified of a real one at the beach last week ;)
The dragonfly is from the Unity Store Kit, Bold Insight. The dragonfly is colored with Copics (BG10, BG13, BG15, and BG18), then I went over it with Copic Spicas in Buttermilk, Gold, and Clear.
The script on the circle beneath the dragonfly is from Unity's December, 2009 Kit of the Month. It's a big rectangle, but I punched a circle out of it.

I'm entering this in the Play Date Cafe's challenge 91, Just a Splash. You are to use black and white and just a splash of one other color of your choice. There's still plenty of time to play!
I'm also linking up to All Things Unity Challenge 35, Wrap It Up, using twine and ribbon.
Thank you so much for stopping by. I appreciate it so much! And if you leave a comment I will stop by your blog and leave some love too ;) I would love to see your creations!!!
Have an awesome weekend!

Soft & Sweet Mojo

I liked Mojo Monday's 200th sketch so much that I made another card using the sketch. This one is a big departure from my last card.
I've had this Glitz paper hanging around for awhile, and I finally decided to use it. I'm trying to use up the oodles of paper I have sitting around. I'm sure some of you can relate ;)
I found some cotton lace I wanted to use to make a flower. Luscious stuff ;) I used these tealy Primas I thought I'd never use for the middle with the rose in the very center. The ribbon is made from seam binding dyed with Vintage Pink Glimmer Mist. Such a pretty color.
 The sentiment is Unity
I even decorated the inside a little.
Thank you for stopping by. I appreciate each and every one of you :) Leave a comment so I can stop by your blog and leave a little blog love for you too!
Have an awesome day!
ETA: Sorry, I forgot to add this to All Thing's Unity's Challenge #35, Wrap it Up.

Happy 200th Mojo Monday!

Mojo Monday is celebrating their 200th Sketch! And to celebrate, they have prizes this week! Every week they have an awesome sketch to get you motivated and inspired. Although I don't always get to it, I always look for it every Monday morning.
My card is based on this week's sketch. Fun stuff, eh!
I used Copics to color the little silver Airstream from Unity Stamps (believe it or not, we actually lived in one of these for a short time while I was very young). I've never colored silver before, but I've seen some fantastic coloring of silver pails and such. I didn't think to look at a pic of a trailer before coloring it (duh), but I did after and saw I didn't do too bad ;)  Of course it's not supposed to look completely realistic. I mean come on, it has hearts on the side :)
I had never used this stamp, ever! I love it, and always have, but never inked it up.  Crazy.
I paired the image and sentiment up with Cosmo Cricket Mr. Campy paper. I am trying hard to use up more paper that has been sitting here and not being shared.
Thank you so much for stopping by! I appreciate you taking the time out of your busy day.
Have a fantastic day!

Card Patterns 124

You know how I love sketch challenges ;)  Card Patterns has a great one this week, pictured below!
A great combination of Sassafras Lass' Indie Girl, Unity Stamp, and some lace, rose ribbon, and pearls make for a sweet soft card.
The Unity stamp I used is from the March, 2010 Kit of the Month, Rockin' It Unity Style. The sentiment is die cut from a Papertrey Ink die, and sponged around the edge.
I kept the trims soft too. The rosebud ribbon is petite and adorable. The diamonds on the right end are cut from the smallest Nestability in the Labels 3 set. I sponged them while they were still in the die.
I even did the inside! I rarely do that ;)
Thanks for stopping by. I really appreciate your time.
Have a fantastic day!

Be Nice

I made this canvas for my entryway, for various reasons ;)
I love it! I had seen signs with this saying on it lately, and I knew it was perfect for us :)
To start with, I Mod Podged a piece of an old pattern on the canvas. I brushed a little cream paint over it, but only enough so you can still see some of the lettering on the pattern. For the next part, I traced the awesome Cosmo Cricket Blackboard "Sweet Mix" chipboard letters (that I may never use because I love them so much!) onto clear Contact paper. I think I'll just trace them forever!
I cut them out by hand (this is where one of those nifty Cricut's would come in handy). Then I lined them up on the canvas and painted it. I used a crumpled up paper to blot some of the paint off. I wanted it to look old. Yes, that was on purpose :)
When the paint was dry I peeled the letters off, and was sooo excited! There was paint that seeped under the letters, so I just touched it up a little. The I outlined it with a black pen, and added a sloppy little shadow for some dimension. Love it!
I may sand it a little yet. I'm not so sure. If I do I will post an updated pic.
Thanks for stopping by! I appreciate it :)
Have a glorious day!

Friends With Flair Flowers

Here's my card, with my favorite stamp right now, Beautiful Disaster. I think I need to lay off it for a while now ;)
The flowers are what I was really excited about though. They're made of white crepe paper! I know! Crazy huh! I inked the crepe paper up with a combo of Distress Inks and Copics. Fun stuff!
I'm linking this up to the All Things Unity Challenge (Thanks Sav!) to use Twine, Ribbon, Burlap, etc. along with Unity Stamps. I used the crochet thread at the top, but I hope the crepe paper will count too.
Thanks for stopping by! I really appreciate you taking the time to visit!
Have an awesome weekend everyone!

A Little Mini

Hello all, and Happy Friday!
That means it's the last day to enter for a chance to be on the design team for Pumpkin Spice ;)
I made the front and back cover for a mini album I'm creating.
The cover for the album is from Teresa Collins. It was made for the Bind It All, but I decided on ribbon instead.
The papers I used are from my two Favorite paper lines; Crate Paper's "Restoration Collection" and Echo Park's "For the Record." They worked well together too.
Now for some of the How-To's.
I traced the covers onto the papers and cut them out by hand. I glued the papers to the covers with Mod Podge and sanded the edges, then sponged ink on the edges.
The crochet flowers were white and dyed with re-inkers and water. It's great when you can't find just the right color to be able to dye what you have.
All of the stamps I used are of course Unity ;)
I used a lot of Nestabilites for the sentiments and frames for pictures.
These two pages are ready for pictures. There is room under the top left corner of the sentiment panel for a picture to slide in.
I can't wait to slide some pics in here. I'm going to add pages as I go along.
Thank you for stopping by! Have a great weekend :)
