With Love

A little Friday Night Fun!
I needed to get into my craft room tonight. The stamps I used are from the November, 2010 Unity Kit of the Month.
Paper is from Sassafras' Indie Girl. Cardstock is SU.
I wanted to make the little accent in the corner look a little frilly. I sponged a paper doily with Tim Holtz Old Paper distress Ink (all edges are also sponged with this ink) to make it look old. I cut out the center, then cut a big section out (about 1/4 to 1/3) of what was left. I accordion folded the remaining doily, adhered the ends to each other, and flattened it. Using a pop up glue dot I attached the heart, which was cut out after stamping.  The twine was tied into a double bow behind the doily, but the darn doily covered it up ;) Ink is SU Not Quite Navy.
I'm linking this card up to All Things Unity Challenge #31.
Thank you for popping in :) Have a fantastic weekend!

How's It Rollin'?

I just love this Unity Itty Bitty stamp (It's a Good Day) with the October Afternoon Seaside paper! I always stamp it in Tim Holtz Barn Door Distress Ink because it's the brightest, most concentrated red I've found. The Seaside paper is awesome with it :)
After cutting out the image with a Spellbinder Nestie I sponged the edges with Tim Holtz Old Paper Distress Ink.
I wanted a little something extra on the bike to make it even more playful, so I used some blue and white twine to make little streamers for the handlebars ;)  I added the little grid paper (Basic Grey laser cut doily paper) and some rikrak from my stash, as well as some coordinating buttons to kind of mimic the 'rolling'.
This is linked on the Unity Blog for Friends with Flair, and to Card Positioning Systems Sketch.
Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great holiday weekend, and don't forget the reason for the extra day off ;)

One Layer Birdhouse

Single layer cards are a real challenge for me, because I love lots of layers!!! But My Unity Place is having a One Layer Challenge! I had to do it! And surprise, surprise, I was really happy with it :).
I started with a plain white card. I used X-Press It Copic Cardstock because I knew I would use Copics and I LOVE the way Copics blend on this cardstock. I stamped the birdhouse from the Itty Bitty set, "Where You Are," with
SU Basic Brown. I inked the bird with a Faber Castell Pitt pen, and the bird's feet with orange. I worried about the Copics with the brown ink but it worked out fine.
I made a rough mask to put over the birdhouse so I could paint the background with acrylic ink.
I painted the background with very little paint on my brush. I wanted a little more texture, so I used a piece of Magic Mesh that I usually use for texture on my mixed media work. I held it down and blotted paint onto the card with a little paint on the brush. You can then use the other side of the mesh to stamp the design onto the card. You can see the details on the pics below.
The corner where the sentiment is was embossed with a punched out shape. I used an SU punch and punched out 3 of the shapes. I glued them together, then placed it under the cardfront and embossed it like I do with nestability dies in my Cuttlebug.
I inked the edges with Tim Holtz Old Paper Distress Ink. I finished it off with some seam binding, a Prime flower, and a big brad from MME Lost & Found Market Street Love brads.
The Copics I used were E31, E33, R02, R05, & W1.
So there ya go. My first try at a single layer card ;)
Thanks for stopping by! Have a spectacular day!!!

Summer Fun Card

This card was a blast to make! I don't even know if I've ever made a round card before.
This paper is great! It's Rusted Sun by Fancy Pants Designs. I like the summer theme with different colors than expected. Almost everything is Rusted Sun, even the letters and rub-ons. The image is Unity, and I stamped it on X-Press It Copic Paper. I inked the stamp with SU markers, then colored the water with Copics. It's layered and popped up on dimensionals. I inked the edges of the oval image with Tim Holtz Old Paper Distress Ink. The ovals were cut with Nesties. The orange velvet trim is from MME's Fine & Dandy Tickled Pink Trims.
I'm entering the card in the Card Patterns Challenge Sketch 115.
I'm also linking up to Unity's Friends With Flair!
Thanks for stopping by :) Have a fantastic day and an amazing weekend!!!

She Art

Christy Tomlinson is a very talented lady. She has an online workshop called The She Art Workshop that I took when she offered it the first time. It was amazing!!! This is my final project from the class.
It's sure not Christy Tomlinson, but I was so happy with it!
She has another workshop coming up that I would take if I could called "She Had Three Hearts." You should look into it if you're feeling artsy ;)
Thank you so much for stopping by!
I hope you all have a great weekend!

Itty Bitty Unity Card

That challenge is to celebrate Unity's 3rd Birthday!
There are 3 guidelines.
1. Must be 3" square (this is harder than you would think!)
2. Use 3 types of embellies (I used Jenni Bowlin pennant chipboard shapes, a button, and twine)
3. Theme Birthday or Anniversary (of course this is a birthday card )
That's a lot going on for a little bitty card, but I think I pulled it off!
The image is a Unity Itty Bitty stamp too ;)
Thanks for stopping by!
Have a great weekend!!!

Grad Card with Original "Stamp"

I needed a card for my friend's husband's graduation. Being an, ahem, adult student myself, I know how challenging it is.
I wanted an owl stamp and I couldn't find one that was what I wanted for this card. So I drew one myself!!! I think he's cute too!!! Now that I look close up I think his eyeball is a little wonky, but he's still so cute! I colored him with Copics.
I got the sketch for this card from Deconstructing Jen's Deconstructed Sketch. It's her first sketch, and I don't know how I even found her, but I'm glad I did :) Go check it out!
Have a great day!

A Couple of Unity Challenge Cards :)

This one was fun because of the colors I used, but you would not believe the number of different Copic markers I used!!! I so wish I could get a clearer picture. It's so much brighter IRL. I think I need a new camera, or a new camera operator ;) I colored the raindrops and rainbow with Copic Spica pens. So sparkley! The stamps used were from Unity Kits of the Month!

I used the December, 2010 Kit of the Month for the sentiment, and the flower is from the September, 2010 Kit of the Month. I stamped the flower with SU Pacific Point ink on cream tissue and punched them out with a circle punch. The button is from My Mind's Eye Lost and Found. The lace is SU.

Thank you for stopping by!
Have a great day!

Sweet Card for Nana

My grandson (3 years old) helped me pick out papers for this card for his Nana (his paternal grandmother) for Mother's Day! He's so excited about Mother's Day. It's nice that he feels that way now ;)
I used the sketch for Card Patterns Sketch 113. And the October Afternoon paper is perfect for this Unity strawberry stamp from the April, 2010 Kit of the Month.
The strawberry was colored with Copics.
Some buttons from SU finish off the card.
Thanks for stopping by :)
have a phenomenal day!!!

Subway Art GR Style

I created this in Storybook, Creative Memories' Digital Scrapbooking program. I live in, and love, the city of Grand Rapids. Here are some of the icons of Grand Rapids subway art style ;) I'm going to have this printed and find a spot for it in our home. If any locals are interested, I may make more copies to sell ;)

Classy and Fabulous Card

It's Sunday evening and I hope you all had a great weekend.
I felt the need to get into my room and create tonight, so here is what i came up with.
I used Unity stamps of course ;) The shoe is from the Melody Ross set, "All Worth it," and the sentiment is from "Undeniably You."
The paper is My Mind's Eye and Pink Paislee.
These gorgeous buttons are from Lost and Found by My Mind's Eye.
The die cut was cut using a Nestability. I left it in the die when I sponged the edges with Old Paper Tim Holtz Distress Ink. I also stamped the shoe with the same ink so it would look like it was in the background. The cream panel was embossed with a Stampin' Up embossing folder. So pretty :) It was also sponged with the Old Paper ink.
The flower was off white, and it was sprayed with Tattered Angels Olive Vine Glimmer Mist.
Thanks for looking in, and I hope you all have a fabu week!
