Non-Craft Related, But I Have to Say

I hope everyone had a great Christmas! I can't believe it's almost 2011. I remember being a kid and wondering what the world would be like in the year 2000.

Christmas is always insane for us. We drive two hours to family, then to the other family, then home, all in one day. It's almost too much, but we've been doing it for 20 years. Why do we put ourselves through this every year, and not just Christmas but every major holiday? This is why!

My goofy family! That's my sister Cathy, brother Jimmy, me (not the most flattering pic), and my little sister Chrissy. Besides my oldest son Kyle, my sister Cathy and brother are some of the funniest people I know. Always interesting ;)

Plus, if I didn't bring my grandson to the family Christmas my family may never speak to me again!

I will get back into my craft room soon, but until then,

Happy New Year!!!

A quick card with no stamping! Kind of like that for a change.
The paper is Tinsel & Twig from The Girls Paperie. The letters and the flower trim is also from them. A simple but pretty card.

The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink Fillable Frames #8. Love the big chunky rik rak! The banner is from Papertrey Ink dies. So easy to make banners!

Vintage Christmas

These ornaments from the Unity kit, Bright & Merry Winter Wishes remind me of Christmases when I was a kid at my grandparents' so I wanted to make them look vintage. Love the old glass ornaments that I could never have in my house with kids, grandkid, dog and cats :) After coloring the ornament with Copics, I sponged the whole ornament with Tim Holtz Distress Ink. I also went over parts of it with Spica pens. The paper I used is Basic Grey Jovial. So vintage!
This card is in the same neighborhood as the previous one.
Again after coloring with my Copics I sponged the whole ornament with Tim Holtz Distress Ink. I wish you could see in the pictures the glitter from the Spica pens around the edge of the ornament and on the designs. The paper is also from Basic Grey Jovial. That gorgeous button is from My Mind's Eye. I wish I had a bunch of them.
Thank you for stopping by! I love visitors! I hope you are all having a great holiday season so far :)

Baby Girl Card

I love doing girly cards! My daughter's friend is having a little girl. Yay! I would rather do shabby chic than any other card, so this is perfect for me ;)
I knew I had to use this pink rose paper from Daisy D's. I'm so sad they're not around anymore. They had the best papers. I found the green print and the solid pink in the Olivia by Basic Grey paper pad. For a girl you have to have lace and flowers. The white lace is from a package of various white lace trims from Melissa Frances. The frame is from Unity. I cut it out by hand after stamping it. I sponged on some Tim Holtz Distress Ink. I couldn't find a Unity stamp to use for the sentiment, but this SU stamp fits perfectly! The flowers are from the Fairytale Roses in Orchid and French White. They were sprayed with Glimmer Mist in Peppermint Twist and Vintage Pink. So pretty! The button is from The Girls' Paperie Vintage Buttons. Love them!
Thank you for stopping by! I love company ;)
Have a fabulous day!

Christmas socks!

When I received this Unity stamp I knew I was going to make these socks into Christmas stockings! Love this stamp!!! I paired it with a Nestablilities Die, some My Mind's Eye Dear Santa paper, and some SU ribbon. The socks were colored with Copics. Thanks for looking! I appreciate it.
Have a fantastic day!!!

Lookin' A Lot Like Christmas!

Another Christmas decoration. Love doing these!
The paper and embellishments are from The Girls' Paperie Tinsel and Twig. They were all in The Girl's Loft's November Kit. It's so nice because everything coordinates!
I stamped the poinsettia and sentiment from Unity's November Kit of the Month, Picture Perfect. I stamped off Old Olive SU ink for the poinsettia, then stamped the sentiment in Riding Hood Red SU ink.Thank you for stopping in! I appreciate it. Comments are nice too ;)
Have a tremendously great day!

Stocking Garland

This was so much fun to make! Lots of Mod Podge and My Mind's Eye Paper.
The stockings are from KaiserCraft and come in two pieces. The holes for the ribbon are also pre-drilled and they match up perfectly between the two pieces.
I painted some Tim Holtz Grunge Board letters with acrylic paint. I used a lot of Papertrey Ink Dies, as well as a Nestability Die and a couple of circle punches.
After adhering the paper with Mod Podge, I sanded the edges then inked them with Tim Holtz Distress Inks in Antique Linen and Vintage Photo.
This was an easy project but a little time consuming. I thing the hardest part was deciding on the little embellishments and die shapes to use.
Thank you for looking in on my blog.
Have a fantastic day!!!
ETA: I wanted to add, this paper is glittery as can be! The glitter is so pretty. I wish you could see it in these pics.

So Excited for My Sparkly Creation!!!

A few weeks ago I bought this fabulous big pack of paper, My Mind's Eye Signature Christmas Glitter Pad. So sparkly! Then this past weekend I was fortunate enough to go to A Cherry On Top's Warehouse Sale. On the way to the register I saw this fabu pack of chipboard shapes! There are 12 in the pack, they're 9" x 7", and they're $4.99 a pack!!! I knew they were meant for each other!
Once I picked the paper for my first plaque I adhered it with Mod Podge. I cut a coordinating piece for the top and punched a decorative edge. After attaching that I sanded the edges and painted the edges with brown acrylic paint.
I was ready to start decorating it! The fun part!
The circle is punched with a 1 3/4" punch. The stamp is from Unity. The die cut behind that is from PTI. These flowers are French White Fairytale Roses from Prima. I sprayed the dickens out of them with Glimmer Mist! Those brads in the middle of the snowflakes are Basic Grey plain ol' brads. I applied Matte Accents to the top and dipped them in Diamond Dust Glitter for a fun sparkly effect!
After finishing the decorating I punched holes in the top with My Crop a Dile and slipped this gorgeous SU Espresso Satin Ribbon through. I didn't want plain knots, so I put a few stitches in, then wrapped a separate piece around that and stitched that piece.
So there it is. One of my favorite projects so far!
Thanks for looking! I'm so happy when I get company in here ;)

It's a Good Day!

Love this Unity Itty Bitty! So simple, and that's what I wanted my card to reflect.

The paper I chose is October Afternoon Seaside. This is awesome paper. I know I say awesome about a lot of things, but this paper is! A little boyish, a little summer, and a whole lot of perfect colors! I used Tim Holtz Distress Inks on this card. The tricycle is stamped in Barn Door. It was just the shade of red I was looking for. The die cut was sponged with Old Paper while still in the Nestie die. The sentiment is stamped in SU Pacific Point.

The ticket embellishment is Mish Mash style (love her style). My husband bought a few 50-50 tickets at a high school football game a few weeks ago. Of course we didn't win, but I put them in my pocket with the intention of using them on cards ;) Perfect! Some buttons and a little ricrak and the card was just what I wanted!

Thank you for stopping by to look! I really do appreciate it.
Have a fantastic day!

Happy Birthday to Deb!

My dear friend Deb had a birthday yesterday and I couldn't post this until I gave it to her.
I love this funky cake from Taylored Expressions! So fun to color with my Copics!
The paper is It's Your Day from Fancy Pants Designs. Great colors!
The frosted pearl on top of the cake is from Pizzazz Aplenty.
That little chipboard banner is Jenni Bowlin.
So Happy Birthday my friend Deb V!

Halloween Mini - Brayden!

Halloween 2010!

This album was soooooo much fun to do! Maybe it's because it's my daughter and my grandson Brayden ;)
I picked up this Little Yellow Bicycle House album a while back. I'm sure my friends thought it would sit (like all of the other ones I've picked up), but I was determined this time!
I received my kit from The Girl's Loft with all of the yummy papers and embellishments and I knew I would use it on this album. Most of it is from The Girls' Paperie. Gorgeous! Everything I used on this album, except for the black ric rac and a button was from this kit. Perfect! And I have a ton left!
Excited to get to Robinette's and get a pumpkin!
Silly
Kiss for Mom
Beautiful! Who could not love this? My favorite page, my favorite picture! The chimney is covered with the black lace from the kit that I pleated. And that charm at the top is awesome!!!
He had two bags of goodies from his Aunt Cathy!
Suckers!
Brayden decorating his jack o lantern with a marker.
Excited to get going!
Time to go!
Trick or treating fire fighter, complete with gas mask.
Thanks for looking! I appreciate the visits, and the comments ;)
Have a phenominal day!

Suzi Blu Poem

I have been wanting this Suzi Blu stamp since I first saw it. I love it! I was so excited to ink it up!
The picture above shows some of the supplies I used. See those yummy Copic colors? I shaded the little diamonds on the floor she's standing on. And of course there are buttons!
A lot of paper piecing went into this! I used Sassafras Indie Girl paper. I just bought it when I bought the stamp. They go so well together. The little pearl is from Pizzazz Aplenty. I used a white pen on a lot of the image, including little highlights on her eyes.
Thank you for stopping by! Have a great day!

Hip Hop Sketch 29

Using October Afternoon Seaside again! I love this paper, but it makes me want summer back.
I used the Unity Hip Hop Sketch Challenge #29. I added the banner for a little texture. I punched circles, folded them in half, laid down some adhesive, put them on a piece of crochet thread, and we're good to go!
A fun cheery little card! I think this is going to Operation Write Home!
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you have an extraordinary day!

A Couple of Hot Air Balloons

I have two very different hot air balloons. Both of them are awesome in their own way.
This one is paper pieced using Seaside from October Afternoon. First time opening that pack. Love it! Paper piecing is so time consuming, but I love the look!
I made clouds using White Craft Ink by SU. I punched out two circles, held them in different areas of the cardstock and sponged around them.
This card has a totally different feel to it.
The map paper is from Seaside by October Afternoon too. The grid and polka dots are from SU. I sponged around the edge of the map paper and the tag with Tim Holtz Black Soot Distress Ink.
Thank you for stopping by! Hope you have an awesome day!
