The Best Is Yet To Be

I've been painting a little this week, so I haven't made cards :0. Imagine the horror!

So I had to get in there and fix that. 

I used Cosmo Cricket's Circa 1934 and black cardstock. The sentiment is Unity, from the February, 2011 Kit of the Month.

Just a Little Canvas

Another attack of insomnia, and this was the result :) This midlife stuff is pretty bad for the body, but great for my creative juices. Wait until you see last night's creation!

This is a 6 x 6 canvas from Dick Blick. A nice size for a little middle of the night creativity.

I painted the background all kinds of bright summer colors, then painted over the colors with light blue and white. You can still see shades of the other colors underneath. It makes for some nice texture.

 I stamped the bicycle from Unity with gray ink, then painted over it. I did the same with the flowers and the sun. The sentiment is stamped in Black Staz On. 

 The highlights are done using the Sharpie paint marker.

 I don't have any particular plan for this little canvas. For now it just sits on my table and makes me happy ;)

Bike and Flowers

This is a beautiful Melody Ross stamp by Unity! The sketch is the CPS Sketch #228.

 I inked the stamp up with Stampin' Up markers. It stamps such a great image! The inking of the stamp was a little off in some spots, but that's ok :) 

 I added some yellow flock to the flower centers. Love flock, and I don't know why I don't use it more.

Paper is Basic Grey. 

 I added a piece of cotton lace around the one end.

I stacked two buttons on the bow. I couldn't find the right shade of twine, or small button, so I colored them both with Copics.

My Unity Place Challenge

Today I want to tell all Unity lovers about a great place to gather and learn and share!

My Unity Place is awesome! There are Unity Challenges and lots of pictures and videos! I think it's sometimes a forgotten resource, but go there now!

 This card was made with the current card challenge, one designer paper, one ribbon, one button. I thought it would be plain, but it's so not! Since I had this dragonfly out from yesterday I thought I'd use it again. It's such a pretty image :)  

I stamped the image with SU Basic Brown. I know it's not on any list to use with Copics, but it never runs for me. I colored with Copics, then colored over it with Copic Spicas. 

the die cut is from a Nestability. While it was still in the frame I sponged it very lightly with Old Paper Distress Ink, then traced the inside of the die with a Spica. So pretty :)

Unity Circles Challenge

My first thought for this card was the Unity Blog Challenge; Circles, Circles, Circles and Friday Friends With Flair! 

I knew I wanted a round card, and I knew I wanted black and white. The teal was a happy discovery when my three year old grandson was "helping" me pick colors :)

 The dragonfly was chosen by him too! That may be due to him being terrified of a real one at the beach last week ;) 

The dragonfly is from the Unity Store Kit, Bold Insight. The dragonfly is colored with Copics (BG10, BG13, BG15, and BG18), then I went over it with Copic Spicas in Buttermilk, Gold, and Clear. 

The script on the circle beneath the dragonfly is from Unity's December, 2009 Kit of the Month. It's a big rectangle, but I punched a circle out of it.  

I'm entering this in the Play Date Cafe's challenge 91, Just a Splash. You are to use black and white and just a splash of one other color of your choice. There's still plenty of time to play! 

I'm also linking up to All Things Unity Challenge 35, Wrap It Up, using twine and ribbon.
